PhonePOS

PhonePOS is smaller, lighter and easier to use than any other conventional payment terminal because it consists of pure software – a mobile app that runs on standard Android phones and uses their NFC function to communicate with bank cards.

PhonePOS is not one of the many new mobile payment methods that have yet to establish a core clientele of customers and merchants. PhonePOS builds on the ubiquitous, contactless girocard, Mastercard and Visa card payments, uses the existing eco system and replaces the additional hardware at the retailer with an app that can be operated on practically all Android devices.

For delivery services, cab drivers, snack bars and also sales staff in department stores.

In Germany, for example, PhonePOS is offered by the German savings banks under the name “Sparkassen POS” for a one-off set-up fee of EUR 19.95, with no monthly fee and a transaction fee of 0.89% on girocard, Maestro and VPay debit card payments. See Sparkasse POS – Fitting is easy

No, PhonePOS can currently only be used on Android devices. A purely software-based terminal on iPhones is still not possible at the moment due to Apple’s decision to block the NFC function for app developers.

PhonePOS is currently not distributed directly by Rubean, but as a whitelabel by contractually affiliated financial institutions under their name.
