CCV and RUBEAN are turning smartphones into payment terminals for retailers

Februar 2018 – Au an der Hallertau/München: The Munich fintech company RUBEAN AG (ISIN: DE0005120802, WKN: 512080) and CCV Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of CCV Group BV, Arnhem (NL), have agreed on a cooperation with the aim of turning smartphones into payment terminals for retailers. The agreement provides for the joint development and marketing of mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) payment terminals that are purely smartphone-based. In order to be able to process contactless payments (NFC), the retailer no longer needs any additional hardware, just an app on their smartphone.

This mPOS payment solution, which does not require any additional hardware, is particularly attractive for smaller and mobile retailers for whom the current payment terminals are too expensive and cumbersome. Mastercard and Visa, which specify the security requirements of the respective card networks, have been supporting the concept of a purely smartphone-based payment terminal since 2017.
