SoftPOS is smaller, lighter and easier to use than any other conventional payment terminal because it consists of pure software – a mobile app that runs on standard Android phones and uses their NFC function to communicate with bank cards.
SoftPOS is not one of the many new mobile payment methods that have yet to establish a core clientele of customers and merchants. SoftPOS builds on the ubiquitous, contactless girocard, Mastercard and Visa card payments, uses the existing eco system and replaces the additional hardware at the retailer with an app that can be operated on practically all Android devices.

No, SoftPOS can currently only be used on Android devices. A purely software-based terminal on iPhones is still not possible at the moment due to Apple’s decision to block the NFC function for app developers.
